INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
BLOCK PAVING
If you have cleaned off block paving make sure you re-apply ‘kiln dried sand’ to the joints before sealing. The jointing sand in block paving is part of the structure.
Shake can thoroughly before opening/stir thoroughly on opening.
The product is supplied ready to use and should not be diluted. Ensure surface to be treated is completely dry.
Apply using long haired roller or brush (don’t use foam rollers). Alternative use an airless sprayer but it must have Viton seals.
Apply first coat at 45 degrees to house. Ensure plenty of resin on roller, enough so that you can push a small puddle of liquid in front of the roller. This will help stop any jointing materials being picked up. On block paving it is important to ensure sufficient resin in the sand joints. Watch for the sand to change colour when the resin starts to penetrate.
The second coat can be a ‘tight’ coat applied at 90 degrees to the first. This coat will even out any uneven brush strokes, etc.
Do not apply liquid too thickly as this can cause poor adhesion
Ensure lid is replaced on container as soon as possible as the product is air/moisture cure.
Tools can be cleaned using a solvent such as Xylene or Cellulose thinners.
IMPRINTED CONCRETE
Shake can thoroughly before opening/stir thoroughly on opening.
The product is supplied ready to use and should not be diluted. Ensure surface to be treated is completely dry.
We suggest you apply using a stiff brush but long haired roller will also work for the second coat (do not use foam rollers). Alternative use an airless sprayer but it must have Viton seals.
We recommend a 2 coat application to give an even coating.
Apply first coat at 45 degrees to house. With a stiff brush scrub into the surface to ensure proper penetration, but be careful not to allow any puddles or bubbles to form in the imprinted joints as this could adversely affect the curing.
As freshly sealed Imprinted Concrete can be very slippery we strongly recommend the use of our ‘Pro-Grip’ or similar low slip additive. This is a clear granular material which is spread on top of the 1st coat whilst it is still tacky, and covered [encapsulated] by the second coat – 1 tub covers up to 90m2.
DRYING TIMES
In summer allow approximately 1 hour between coats. Keep vehicles off for 36 hours. In cooler weather longer periods may be required
OTHER SURFACE
For installation on other surfaces please call us on 01204 362828 and we will be happy to 'talk you through' or forward written instructions
SUITABILITY
It is important that you undertake a small test area to ensure the product is suitable for your requirements. This is particularly important where the surface has previously been sealed
LOW SLIP – INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Our Low Slip additive is a broadcast system and is not designed to be mixed into the sealer, the reason for this is that our Low Slip has a very high Co-efficient of Friction [CoE] providing far greater slip resistance than an additive that can be mixed and suspended in a sealer.
The additive is designed to be invisible when spread correctly [too much & it will show] so resist the temptation to put more than is necessary. The Low Slip supplied should be enough to cover upwards of 90 square meters.
To achieve the best finish apply the Low Slip to the first coat whilst the sealer is still damp to stop it from being blown off in wind. The best way is to seal a strip across the paving approx. 1 metre wide & then sprinkle the Low Slip over the sealer (like you would sprinkle salt on your dinner). Repeat the process until the whole area is complete.
If the Low slip is applied to thickly it can show once the sealer has dried, if you think you have put too much on in brush over the affected area whilst the sealer is still damp; this will spread out the Low Slip.
COLOUR CHARGE – INSTRUCTIONS
When resealing blend in those faded or chipped areas by adding Colour Charge which can be used either as a subtle tint or to completely obscure.
Often all that is needed is a tint. On imprinted concrete choose the darkest colour used on the paving when installed [usually the joints]. If you need to completely obliterate then choose the main colour of the paving.
Colour Charge is available in 6 standard colours:
- Brick Red - Terracotta - Charcoal Grey
- Buff - Walnut - Mahogany
Colour Charge can be added to get the depth of colour you require. If you want a tint apply only a small amount to the resin sealer and stir thoroughly, then test in a discreet area and check colour when dry. If more colour is required repeat process. If you are looking to completely obscure the paving then simply add the full container. Stir frequently during use.
We would always recommend carrying out a test area to ensure you are getting the effect you require and, don’t forget, if there are a few badly faded patches you can always touch these up first with a brush & the tinted resin before applying a coat over the whole area
MATTING AGENT – MIXING INSTRUCTIONS
The supplied container of Matting Agent is the correct quantity for one 25 litre container of sealer to give a matt finish. For an eggshell finish use less.
You may wish to mix half the contents and apply to a small sample area. Allow to dry & check if the finish is suitable. If still too high a sheen simply add more Matting Agent.
The best way to achieve full distribution of the matting powder is to start with a litre or two of sealer in a suitable container (paint kettle or roller bucket) and bit by bit mix in the Matting Agent until all the power is mixed into a smooth paint/paste like consistency, once there are no lumps left it can then be mixed easily into the full container of sealer ensuring that it is thoroughly mixed. Stir frequently during use.
